Meet our Monday School Tutors

 

Miss Charity Adams

Charity Adams is an EKU student majoring in Mathematics Education. She lives in Brodhead, KY with her parents and younger sister, and is a member of Hickory Grove Pentecostal Church. Charity graduated from Rockcastle County High School, where she served as President of FFA and Co-President of her graduating class. She is currently the State FFA Vice-President. She has a high interest in math and has completed several high level math courses.  This is Charity’s 2nd year teaching for Madison Christian.

 

Mrs. Samantha Bradley

Samantha Bradley earned her Sociology degree from EKU. She has a love for Christian Education and was homeschooled from Kindergarten through 12th grade. Sam is a member of Vineyard Community Church here in Richmond. She is married to Josh Bradley, and they are expecting their first child in February. This is Sam’s 2nd year teaching for Madison Christian.

 

Mr. Jeff Curd

Jeff Curd lives in Richmond with his wife of 30 years, Laurel and their two girls – Ashley (23) and Elizabeth (14). They are members of the Richmond Church of Christ where Jeff and Laurel both teach Sunday school. Jeff is a retired Veteran who served in both the Air Force and Army. He started out as an MP but flew H-60 Blackhawk helicopters for most of his career. Jeff has visited over 30 countries with combat tours in Somalia, Afghanistan, and Iraq. When he is not flying or spending time with family, he is usually studying history. He has a Bachelor’s degree from Embry Riddle Aeronautical University and is nearing the completion of a Master’s degree in American History. He is currently working as a helicopter test pilot for the Defense Department. This is his first year teaching at Madison Christian where he is looking forward to sharing his love of history with the students.

 

Mrs. Angie Elkins

Angie Elkins lives in Richmond with her husband, Keith, and her three children – Clay (20), Kyle (17), and Katie (13). They are members of First Baptist Church, Richmond. She has been a homeschooling mom for 11 years. Prior to homeschooling, she taught deaf/hard of hearing preschoolers for 10 years in Lexington. Angie holds a master’s degree in early childhood/deaf education, but since homeschooling, she has been primarily involved with the deaf through interpreting church services, teaching sign language classes, and serving the deaf through service projects. Angie feels it is a privilege to work with children and young adults, and is looking forward to a fabulous semester at Madison Christian Academy. This is Angie’s 2nd year teaching for Madison Christian.

 

Mrs. Ann Friend

Ann Friend has been a Christian Educator since 2002, and prior to that, Mrs. Ann homeschooled her children for six years. Ann received her degree in Education, with an emphasis in English, from EKU and is currently working on her Master’s degree. She enjoys reading and has amassed over 5,000 books in her personal library. Mrs. Ann lives in Richmond with her husband, Mike and they have five children – Steven (30), Geneva (26), Anthony (24), Brittany (17), and Stacie (16).


Miss Stacie Lawrence

Stacie Lawrence, Madison Christian Academy alumni, is a senior at Eastern Kentucky University. She is majoring in Public Relations and Spanish. Stacie has completed six years of Spanish and enjoys learning about the language and culture. She also enjoys writing, both personally and professionally. She has written at a college level through English, Journalism, writing for EKU’s newspaper, and for Public Relations clients. While math is not Stacie’s favorite subject, she does love teaching Geometry, as it seems to come natural to her. Stacie is also an EKU GURU, tutoring EKU students on campus in a variety of academic subjects. This is Stacie’s third year teaching for Madison Christian; she thoroughly enjoys working with children and teens and looks forward to meeting this year’s students.

 

Mrs. Melinda Lawrence

Mrs. Melinda has been the Administrator of Madison Christian Academy since it was founded in 2001. She lives in Richmond with her husband, Eddie, and their youngest daughter, Stacie. They are members of the Richmond Church of Christ. Ms. Melinda has taught many classes of all levels and subjects during her years at MCA. She also volunteers for the Madison County 4-H Council, and teaches children’s Bible classes at church from time to time. She has a love of learning and enjoys inspiring students to do their best in everything they do!

 

Mrs. Kimberly Taylor

Kimberly Taylor received a BS in Chemistry and a BS in Microbiology from Alderson Broaddus College. She pursued her graduate work at UK in the field of Microbiology and Immunology. She worked for a private research firm investigating monoclonal antibodies to brain and breast cancer and ran a thyroid cancer lab at UK. She has papers published in Clinical and Experimental Metastasis and Journal of Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism. Kimberly has been married for 22 years and has 4 teenagers. This is her 16th year as a homeschooling mom. She has taught in multiple homeschool co-ops for 14 years at all age levels. She has also been an active member of Victory Baptist Church since October 1994 and currently holds the position of hospitality chairperson.
